Summer Science Camp Initiative
WHEREAS the Mamowihitowin of the Omushkegowuk recognize that the Summer Science Camp continues to provide important and valuable educational and personal development for our children; and
WHEREAS the "First Nations and Inuit Science and Technology Program" of Indian and Northern Affairs Canada has in the past provided funds to run Summer Science Camps in the seven Mushkegowuk Council First Nation communities every summer; and
WHEREAS the "First Nations and Inuit Science and Technology Program" of Indian and Northern Affairs Canada provides summer science camps for youth so that they may learn about science language and science skills, and also the chance to enhance their life skills, and spark the imagination of the youth and to keep their options open when choosing a career;
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that Omushkego Education, under the direction of Mushkegowuk Council, continue to pursue financial support to fund this programme, an important initiative that gives First Nation youth an opportunity to envision future options and a possible opening into productive science careers.
