Resolution No. 2018-11-09

Renewal of Employment and Training Services Funding Agreement

WHEREAS in partnership with Wabun Tribal Council and Service Canada, Mushkegowuk Council has administered the regional employment and services program on behalf of the Mushkegowuk First Nations, including Weenusk First Nation, since 1997; and

WHEREAS with support from the Mushkegowuk Council, the Wabun Tribal Council and Moose Cree First Nation are in the process of securing their own funding agreements directly from Service Canada for employment and training services; and

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that a direct funding agreement between Wabun Tribal Council and Service Canada will require an agreement between Mushkegowuk Council and Service Canada on behalf of the seven (7) remaining Mushkegowuk First Nations; and

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that in support of other member First Nation's desire to administer their own employment and training agreements, a new Mushkegowuk Council -Service Canada agreement will provide opportunity for direct First Nation -Service Canada agreement to be negotiated; and

THEREFORE, BE IT FlNALLY RESOLVED that this Mamowihitowin of the Omushkegowuk directs the Mushkegowuk Council to secure a new funding agreement with Service Canada for the provision of employment and training services for the following Mushkegowuk First Nations: Missanabie Cree First Nation, Chapleau Cree First Nation, Taykwa Tagamou Nation, Fort Albany First Nation, Kashechewan First Nation, Attawapiskat First Nation and Weenusk First Nation.
