Support for Banishment of Drug Dealers

WHEREAS the First Nations of Mushkegowuk Council continue to deal with a growing epidemic of illegal drug use in our First Nations; and

WHEREAS certain individuals in our First Nations continue to smuggle and sell illegal drugs to our people in our communities; and

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that this Mamowihitowin of the Omushkegowuk supports Mushkegowuk First Nations who choose to enact bylaws to banish proven drug dealers from their communities; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVE that the Office of the Grand Chief of Mushkegowuk will support First Nations in the development of effective bylaws for dealing with drug dealers in order to advance a consistent approach to this issue.
