WHEREAS in Canada the Government continues to cover up the crimes committed to the victims of St. Anne's Residential School therefore perpetuating the revictimization of their suffering and;

WHEREAS the majority of members of the First Nations that comprise Mushkegowuk Council who are age 45 or older, are survivors of various IRS that operated in the James Bay region, such as St Anne's Residential School in Fort Albany, and many others; some members have made IAP claims under the class action settlement for sexual and/or physical abuse while he/she was a child attending these schools and;

WHEREAS Mushkegowuk Council recognizes the severity of the socioeconomic impacts of IRS has resulted in many of our IRS survivors being unable to share their stories and voice their opinions and/or concerns, which in turn, does not allow for healing of the survivors, and;

WHEREAS Mushkegowuk Council also acknowledges the severity of intergenerational impacts of residential schools in our region;

WHEREAS; the victims of St. Anne and their families deserve validation and justice like every other Canadian citizen, and;

WHEREAS; the victims of St. Anne would benefit from political support to continue to hold the Government of Canada accountable via Indian Residential School Funds to provide travel supports for the survivors of St. Anne's to attend the hearings and other events or initiatives involving reconciliation efforts;
